Baseball Recap: Lawrence County Wildcats vs. Summertown Eagles
Lawrence County extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 11-10 in the process. They came up short against the Summertown Eagles, falling 15-4. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 16-6.
Lawrence County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Mattox, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
As for Summertown, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Considering they have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On Summertown's side, Graham Howell was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave Howell a new career-high. Cecil Williams was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Lawrence County has already played their next matchup, a 13-3 victory against Lexington on the 12th. As for Summertown, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-1 win against Battle Creek on the 14th.
