Recap: Ponderosa Mustangs vs. Castle View Sabercats
The Ponderosa Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Castle View, falling 72-32. Ponderosa was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-19.
When it comes to explaining why Ponderosa lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maddison Neale. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points. That was a full 50% of Ponderosa's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Castle View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kenzie Tosch, who scored 13 points along with six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Mroz, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Ponderosa's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Castle View, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ponderosa the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Highlands Ranch at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Highlands Ranch presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ponderosa in Colorado (Highlands Ranch is ranked 26th, while Ponderosa is ranked 159th). As for Castle View, they will be playing at home against Douglas County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
