Preview: Ben Lomond Scots vs. Ogden Tigers
The Ben Lomond Scots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ogden Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Ben Lomond has struggled recently with eight losses in a row, while the Tigers will arrive with four straight wins.
Ben Lomond fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Cougars on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Cougars 60-56. Ben Lomond has not had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jake East, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Alcarez, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ogden didn't have too much trouble with the Trojans at home on Friday as they won 57-43.
Stockton Marriott was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 16 points for six straight games. Jesse Jones was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Ben Lomond has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Ogden, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Ben Lomond have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 43.5% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Ogden struggles in that department as they've made 37.4% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
