Basketball Recap: Haley Murphy Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Taylor

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Mercy McAuley's strategy against Taylor on Thursday. The Mercy McAuley Wolves strolled past the Taylor Yellowjackets with points to spare, taking the game 45-29. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Yellowjackets, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mercy McAuley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Haley Murphy, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 15 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Murphy a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Leary, who posted eight points and three steals.

Mercy McAuley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Mercy McAuley's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Taylor, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Mercy McAuley will face off against Gamble Montessori at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Taylor, they will host Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
