Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Celtics vs. El Dorado Wildcats

The Trinity Celtics will take on the El Dorado Wildcats in a tournament on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Trinity came into this matchup off a tough 46-point defeat on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Wellington by a score of 43-40 on Tuesday. The Celtics have struggled against the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when El Dorado challenged Cheney on Tuesday. The Wildcats took an 82-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals.

Trinity will need to focus on slowing down Jaxon Sheffler, one of several El Dorado players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6-for-7 on his way to 12 points. Jase Peffly was another key player, shooting 67% from the field en route to 15 points.

Trinity's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for El Dorado, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Trinity suffered a grim 64-44 defeat to El Dorado in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can the Celtics avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
