Flag Football Game Preview: St. Francis Spartans vs. Rosary Royals

The St. Francis Spartans will head out to challenge the Rosary Royals at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Francis will be strutting in after a win while Rosary will be coming in after a loss.

St. Francis is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 67-13 victory over Bartlett. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Allie Sheldon was her usual excellent self, rushing for 181 yards and five TDs on only seven carries. Those 181 rushing yards gave her a new career-high. Maicie Schweiner made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Francis was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 273 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

St. Francis didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Schweiner led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself. Mackenzie Polley is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as she's now defended at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Schweiner got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Rosary came up short against DePaul College Prep on Wednesday and fell 18-7.

St. Francis' record now sits at 12-8. As for Rosary, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

St. Francis beat Rosary 18-6 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
