Sam Houston had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.9 points) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Saturday. They wrapped up 2024 with a 57-38 win over the Brackenridge Eagles. That's more bragging rights for the Hurricanes, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sam Houston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brenna Davis led the charge by putting up 15 points. Faira Starks was another key player, posting 14 points.

Brackenridge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sky Lopez, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Lopez is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Cortinas, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

Sam Houston is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. As for Brackenridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-13.
