Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Bishop Montgomery's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Bishop Montgomery won the last time they faced Bishop Conaty-Loretto and things went their way on Thursday too. The Knights' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 19-0 shutout. Considering the Knights have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Macey Kim was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Molly Forbess, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Laralin, who scored four runs while going 3-for-3.

Bishop Montgomery kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.

Bishop Montgomery has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Bishop Conaty-Loretto, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Bishop Montgomery has already played their next matchup, a 17-4 win against Leuzinger on the 4th. As for Bishop Conaty-Loretto, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-5 victory against Hawthorne on the 5th.
