Basketball Recap: Tekamah-Herman Find Success

Tekamah-Herman's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They slipped by the Wakefield Trojans 61-60.

Brody Rogers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 of 16 en route to 17 points along with seven assists and six boards. That's the most assists he has posted since back in December of 2023. Sam Oligmueller also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Tekamah-Herman was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Wakefield lost, don't look at Cael Johnson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. Wakefield is 5-2 when Johnson posts ten or more boards, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Birkley, who had seven points in addition to six assists and three steals.

The win got Tekamah-Herman back to even at 9-9. As for Wakefield, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Tekamah-Herman has already played their next contest, a 74-31 defeat against Pender on the 4th. As for Wakefield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 69-26 victory against Lyons-Decatur Northeast on the 4th.
