Basketball Recap: Riverview's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

If Riverview was riding high fresh off their 61-38 takedown of Anderson last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Riverview Pirates fell 43-34 to the Allen Park Jaguars on Friday. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Despite the loss, Riverview still got an impressive performance from Averi Westbay, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. What's more, Westbay posted two blocks, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Kate Patterson was another key player, putting up eight points.

Riverview moved to 14-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 23.3 points. As for Allen Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Riverview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Allen Park, they will take on Bedford at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bedford comes in on five and Allen Park on nine.
