Softball Recap: Kimball Takes a Loss

If Kimball was riding high fresh off their 12-2 takedown of West on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jaguars fell just short of the St. Mary's Rams by a score of 7-6 on Monday. The Jaguars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 10-6.

Alexa Contreras spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Saige Dodds made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Karaliya DePerio, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.

Kimball dropped their record down to 16-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for St. Mary's, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-15.

Kimball wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 11-0 loss against Lodi on the 6th. As for St. Mary's, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 defeat against Lincoln on the 6th.
