Softball Game Preview: Kenston Bombers vs. Chardon Hilltoppers

Kenston hasn't had much luck against Chardon recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bombers will look to defend their home field against the Hilltoppers at 5:00 p.m.

Monday just wasn't the day for Kenston's offense. They fell just short of South by a score of 2-0 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bombers have suffered since April 28th.

Meanwhile, Chardon came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Titans a 12-0 shutout.

Gwen Boyle was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Anderson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Chardon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Chardon pushed their record up to 15-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Kenston, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.
