Softball Recap: Northeastern Takes a Loss

Northeastern fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Eastern Hancock on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Royals by a score of 6-5. The Knights have struggled against the Royals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Isabella Peed made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4.

Northeastern's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Eastern Hancock, their win was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-6.

Coming up, Northeastern will take on Cambridge City Lincoln at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Eastern Hancock, they will square off against Monroe Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Royals are facing the Golden Bears at the right time seeing as the Golden Bears are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
