Volleyball Recap: Shepard Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

The Shepard Astros were able to grind out a solid victory over the Hillcrest Hawks on Thursday, taking the game 2-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Astros.

Shepard easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-19.

Conor Harkala was a one-man wrecking crew as he had five aces, three digs, and one block. Those five aces gave him a new career-high. Cesar Miramontes also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.

Shepard's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. As for Hillcrest, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Shepard will face off against rival Blue Island Eisenhower at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hillcrest is set to challenge their familiar foe Oak Forest at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
