Basketball Recap: Acelia Beals' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Charlotte over Sickles

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Charlotte can now relate to. They fell to the Sickles Gryphons 52-46.

Charlotte's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Acelia Beals, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 15 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Samantha Vega was another key player, putting up 15 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Charlotte smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Kelsey Sharpe continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sickles, going 7-for-16 on her way to 23 points along with eight boards and five assists. The match was Sharpe's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Watts, who posted 14 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Charlotte's loss dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Sickles, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-8.

Charlotte does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sickles, they will take on Steinbrenner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Sharpe and Naomi Parker.
