2A League 7 Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Rico Came Up Big in Brush's 47-12 Win

Thanks in part to Eric Rico, Brush said goodbye to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season. Rico turned in nothing short of a gem on Friday, rushing for 65 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, while also throwing for 113 yards and a touchdown on only eight passes. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2023.

Rico and Brush will challenge Sterling at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Beetdiggers got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Tigers, probably because Rico had a solid game then too: he rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Can he match (or beat) that performance?

Gamescore: 45.73

Jace Cornelius put up the most rushing yards he's had since back in September of 2023 on Friday. He rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 95 yards.

This season, Cornelius has averaged 38.2 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 35.5 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 56 rushing yards.

Axton Haswell Sets Career High in Rushing Yards

Brush's five-game losing streak dating back to last season is now nothing but a memory thanks in part to Axton Haswell.
