Volleyball Recap: Morgan Gooch's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Westmoreland over Rappahannock

Westmoreland managed to slip by Rappahannock the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Eagles came up short against the Raiders on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

While Westmoreland ultimately came up short, they really made Rappahannock work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-21, 25-18.

Westmoreland's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Morgan Gooch, who had 11 digs and two aces. Gooch is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 17 or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Morgan Sichol, who had 22 digs.

Westmoreland's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Rappahannock, their win bumped their record up to 8-14.

Westmoreland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rappahannock, they will square off against Lancaster at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight.
