Basketball Recap: Campbell County Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jack Andela and Truman Degrange

If Campbell County was riding high fresh off their 78-46 takedown of South on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Campbell County Camels fell just short of the Laramie Plainsmen by a score of 61-58 on Saturday. The Camels have struggled against the Plainsmen recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Campbell County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Truman Degrange, who went 8 of 19 on his way to 24 points, and Jack Andela, who went 6 for 10 en route to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Biggs, who posted two points and nine boards.

Laramie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaden Smith led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Neil Summers, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards.

Campbell County's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-7. As for Laramie, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Campbell County will head out on the road to square off against Thunder Basin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Laramie, they will take on Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
