Baseball Recap: Chowchilla Wins Going Away Against Coalinga

After only one run in their last game, Chowchilla made sure to put some runs up on the board against Coalinga on Friday. The Chowchilla Tribe put the hurt on the Coalinga Horned Toads with a sharp 16-2 victory. The Tribe haven't had any issues with the Horned Toads recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Nick Grissom was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Grissom was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Walters, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Isaak Barbosa, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4.

Chowchilla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coalinga only posted a batting average of .176.

The victory got Chowchilla back to even at 2-2. As for Coalinga, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Chowchilla has already played their next matchup, a 16-6 loss against Washington Union on the 8th. As for Coalinga, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against Sunnyside on the 8th.
