Football Recap: Grady Long and Landon Armenta Secure Win for La Serna

There's no place like home for La Serna, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Edison Chargers 23-21. For the Lancers, this counts as revenge for the 32-21 win the Chargers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

A big part of La Serna's victory came down to the chemistry between Grady Long and his top target Landon Armenta. Long threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns while Armenta picked up 124 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 124 receiving yards gave Armenta a new career-high.

Although Edison took the loss, they still got scores from Ayden Degiacomo, Jude Gonterman, and Samuel Edmisten.

The win got La Serna back to even at 3-3. As for Edison, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-2 record.

Looking ahead, La Serna will face off against El Rancho at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dons' defense has only allowed 11.8 points per game this season, so the Lancers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Edison, they will challenge Summit at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
