Basketball Game Preview: Wilcox Chargers vs. Milpitas Trojans

The Wilcox Chargers will take on the Milpitas Trojans at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.

Wilcox is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Palo Alto just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 60-42 bruising from the Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while the Vikings are ranked 103rd).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Milpitas, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They blew past Los Altos, posting a 73-38 win. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 23 points or more this season.

Milpitas' victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.6 points. As for Wilcox, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5.

Wilcox didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Milpitas in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 72-67 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Milpitas' Jacob Wrencher, who posted 33 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Wilcox still be able to contain Wrencher? There's only one way to find out.
