Basketball Recap: Annawan Comes Up Short

Annawan and Wethersfield squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Annawan had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 57-39 to the Wethersfield Flying Geese. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Flying Geese this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-25 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Annawan lost, don't look at Bella VanOpdorp. Despite the final result, she posted 18 points. VanOpdorp's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Paige Sierens, who scored seven points.

Annawan's defeat dropped their record down to 7-20. As for Wethersfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Annawan nor Wethersfield have any future games scheduled.
