Baseball Preview: Thornton Trojans vs. Overland Trailblazers
The Thornton Trojans will face off against the Overland Trailblazers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Thornton comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Thornton lost 16-1 to Skyview on Thursday.
Thornton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Flores, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Elias Abeyta also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Overland fell victim to Northfield and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Nighthawks, falling 28-0. The shutout was out of character for the Trailblazers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.
Thornton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Overland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Thornton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Overland struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
