Baseball Recap: Orland Takes a Loss

Orland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Modesto Panthers.

Rory Moreci spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Orland is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Orland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Schager, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Orland now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Modesto, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-19-1.

Looking ahead, Orland will take on Grace Davis in a tournament on Thursday. As for Modesto, they will square off against Pitman at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
