Basketball Recap: Crossland Takes a Loss

Crossland lost against Surrattsville back in January of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Crossland Cavaliers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to the Surrattsville Hornets. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Crossland's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zaida Birruete, who posted 16 points. Those 16 points gave Birruete a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ramia Alston, who had 13 points.

Crossland's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Surrattsville, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-12.

Coming up, Crossland will face off against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Surrattsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
