Basketball Recap: Weld Central Takes a Loss

Weld Central lost against Fort Morgan back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Weld Central Rebels took a 59-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Morgan Mustangs.

Fort Morgan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brodin Jess, who went 7-for-12 en route to 15 points and seven boards. Carlo Bassalle was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Weld Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season. As for Fort Morgan, their record now sits at 5-13.

Looking ahead, Weld Central will take on Eaton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eaton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Weld Central likes a good challenge. As for Fort Morgan, they will face off against Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
