Basketball Recap: WF West Sets Scoring Season-High Against Aberdeen

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask WF West). Everything went their way against the Aberdeen Bobcats on Tuesday as the WF West Bearcats made off with an 81-60 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Bearcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

WF West had a senior duo take command as Carlos Vallejo posted 24 points and six boards and Grady L Westlund dropped a double-double on 20 points and 24 rebounds. With that strong performance, Vallejo is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. Weston Potter was another key player, putting up 12 points and six rebounds.

WF West was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Aberdeen still got an impressive performance from Ryker Scott, who went 5 of 11 en route to 16 points. Those 16 points gave Scott a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jhacob Quezada, who had 14 points.

WF West's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-8. As for Aberdeen, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6.

WF West has already played their next contest, a 49-32 win against Shelton on the 16th. As for Aberdeen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 62-50 loss against Tumwater on the 16th.
