Preview: Indian Creek Eagles vs. Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets
The Indian Creek Eagles will be playing at home against the Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Indian Creek's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to Friends.
Indian Creek's defeat came about despite a quality game from Aiden Evans, who scored 21 points. That was a full 48.8% of Indian Creek's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Harvin, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Chapelgate Christian Academy pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 64-57 to St. Mary's. It was the first time this season that Chapelgate Christian Academy let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Chapelgate Christian Academy had strong showings from Julian Sabbat, who scored 22 points along with two steals and two blocks, and Justin Bishop, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Mason Plater was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Indian Creek now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-7.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Indian Creek hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 59.8 points per game. It's a different story for Chapelgate Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 60.6 points per game. The only thing between Indian Creek and another offensive beatdown is Chapelgate Christian Academy. Will they be able to keep them contained?
