Baseball Recap: Richland Has No Trouble Against Azle

Richland had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Azle on Tuesday. The Royals blew past the Hornets 16-4. That's more bragging rights for the Royals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cooper Carroll looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Richland is 5-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-10-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, LJ Allison was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Richland is undefeated when Allison posts two or more runs, but 8-12-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Charger Nguyen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Richland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

The win got Richland back to even at 12-12-1. As for Azle, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-10.

Richland will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hornets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
