After a string of six wins, Blair's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 70-62 to the Poolesville Falcons. The Blazers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Poolesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexavier Saunders, who shot 50% from the field en route to 24 points. Saunders' big performance that morning made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Emmanuel Chukuwurah was another key player, as he made all 6 shots he took for 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.
Blair's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Poolesville, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season.
Blair will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Reservoir at 6:00 p.m. on March 4th. Blair has given up an average of 58.6 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. As for Poolesville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-56 defeat against Hammond on the 28th.
