Baseball Recap: Ceres Drops Season-High Score on Delhi

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ceres). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Delhi Hawks a 17-0 shutout on Thursday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Aiden Maines, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Anthony Trevino was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Ceres is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Delhi, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11.

Coming up, Ceres will square off against Livingston at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.38 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. Delhi does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
