Baseball Game Preview: Woodstock North Thunder vs. Richmond-Burton Rockets

The Woodstock North Thunder will head out to face off against the Richmond-Burton Rockets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Richmond-Burton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Woodstock North, who comes in off a win.

Woodstock North's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Harvard 12-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunder.

Braeden Berner was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Woodstock North: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise. Brady Rogers was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Woodstock North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Richmond-Burton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Sandwich.

Richmond-Burton's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Woodstock North, their record is now 7-8.

Woodstock North couldn't quite finish off Richmond-Burton when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 10-8. Can the Thunder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
