Softball Recap: Harrison Comes Up Short

Harrison had lost five straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 3-9 to make it six. They came up short against the Crown Point Bulldogs, falling 8-0. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Crown Point, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 11 matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

For Crown Point's part, Harrison's batters probably weren't too happy with Paige Liezert, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (she gave up two walks). Liezert has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Crown Point got a massive performance out of Scarlette Tegtman, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Tegtman has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Harrison didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-2 victory against Lafayette Jefferson on the 6th. As for Crown Point, they have also already played their next contest, a 17-5 win against Portage on the 6th.
