The La Joya Community Fighting Lobos are taking a road trip to face off against the Copper Canyon Aztecs at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
La Joya Community gave up the first runs last Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Independence by a score of 13-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fighting Lobos.

Isabel Soares and Andrea Leon were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Soares tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Leon tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits. At bat, Soares went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Leon scored a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Leon a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anaya Romero, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Alexandra Soares was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
La Joya Community kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Copper Canyon came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Rams 18-3. The Aztecs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by 11 runs or more this season.
Kayla Gonzalez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jamie Molina was a standout: she scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Vida Mendoza also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
La Joya Community's record is now 12-9. As for Copper Canyon, their record now sits at 5-10.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. La Joya Community has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .536. However, it's not like Copper Canyon struggles in that department as they've averaged .503. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
