Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Tri

Tri had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt North Decatur on Monday. The Titans put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 13-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won six contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Ashton Richey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lyla Williams was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Becca Sherwood was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Tri always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Decatur only posted an OBP of .296.

The win was the sixth in a row for Tri, bringing their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for North Decatur, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Coming up, Tri will be playing at home against Centerville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for North Decatur, they will head out to challenge Greensburg at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
