 In what's become a running theme this season, Emerson gave their fans yet another huge  victory on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Independence Knights as the Emerson Mavericks made off with  a  14-5 win. 14 seems to be a good number for Emerson as the  squad scooped up a  victory with the same number of  runs in their previous game.
  Addison Hudnall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Hudnall has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Hudnall was also solid in the batter's box,  going 3-for-5 with two  stolen bases, a  double,  and  an  RBI.
 In other batting news, Emerson let  Madison Mayes and  Alexis Maijala loose on the outfield. Mayes  scored a  run and  stole a base while  getting on base  in three of her five plate appearances, while  Maijala  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of  Ellie Thurman, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
 Emerson's win  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 15-8. As for Independence, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost eight of their last nine contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record  this season.
 Emerson will head out on the road to  challenge  Liberty at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Emerson is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.5  runs per game this season. As for Independence, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Heritage at 7:15  p.m.  on Tuesday.
