Softball Recap: Salmon Comes Up Short

Salmon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ririe Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 6-5 loss last Thursday.

Abby Jackson was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kayden O'Connor was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Baylee Halle was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Salmon's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10-1. As for Ririe, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-13.

While Salmon had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
