Baseball Game Preview: San Clemente Tritons vs. El Toro Chargers

The San Clemente Tritons are taking a road trip to take on the El Toro Chargers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. San Clemente will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

On Friday, San Clemente earned a 7-4 win over Mission Viejo.

Meanwhile, while it was El Toro who put the first runs on the board on Friday, it was Capistrano Valley who put up more. The Chargers came up short against the Cougars, falling 14-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Chargers have suffered since April 4th.

El Toro got a good showing from Logan Barney, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Barney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, El Toro saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Talen Nodalo, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Kenny Park, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

San Clemente pushed their record up to 15-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for El Toro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-11.

San Clemente skirted past El Toro 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tritons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
