Softball Recap: Kirkwood Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Kirkwood extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 6-3 in the process. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Clarksville Wildcats a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Cobras, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Maddie Ratcliff, who gave up just five hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Clarksville off the board. With that strong performance, Ratcliff is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Jayda Rhodes and Sophia Lucas did most of the damage at the plate: Rhodes went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, while Lucas went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Kirkwood hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

As for Clarksville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. The shutout was out of character for they seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

On Clarksville's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maggie Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

As of now, neither Kirkwood nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
