Softball Recap: Licking Heights Victorious

The Licking Heights Hornets were able to grind out a solid win over the Newark Wildcats on Saturday, taking the game 7-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Lydia Rauch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Rauch was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Von Bargen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Hailey Anderson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Licking Heights hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory got Licking Heights back to even at 5-5. As for Newark, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Licking Heights beat the Wildcats by a score of 10-0 later that day.
