Softball Game Preview: Heritage Hills Patriots vs. Tecumseh Braves

Heritage Hills hasn't had much luck against Tecumseh recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Patriots will face off against the Braves at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Heritage Hills comes in on three and Tecumseh on 14.

On Tuesday, Heritage Hills had just enough and edged out Evansville Memorial 3-1.

Miriam Gordon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Emma Fischer and Hadley Leibering did most of the damage at the plate: Fischer went 1-for-4 with one home run, while Leibering went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits Leibering has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, Tecumseh put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Monday. They blew past Mt. Vernon 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Tecumseh's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Heritage Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 19-6.

Heritage Hills couldn't quite get it done against Tecumseh in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
