Basketball Recap: Thomas Stone Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Thomas Stone walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Huntingtown Hurricanes on Monday, sneaking past 41-38. The Cougars didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Thomas Stone found their leader in sophomore Malaiyah Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Johnson has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Heaven Coles was another key player, shooting 60% from the field to rack up 12 points and five boards.

Thomas Stone's victory bumped their record up to 8-17. As for Huntingtown, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-4.

Looking ahead, Thomas Stone will venture away from home to challenge Westlake at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Westlake will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Thomas Stone surely won't give up without a fight. Huntingtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
