Baseball Recap: Pompton Lakes Comes Up Short

Pompton Lakes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 4-1 to the Wayne Hills Patriots. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2017.

Pompton Lakes saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angelo Fusaro, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Chad McConnell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Pompton Lakes' defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Wayne Hills, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pompton Lakes will square off against Hawthorne at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wayne Hills, they will be playing at home against West Milford on Saturday.
