Basketball Recap: Baker Takes a Loss

Baker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. The contest between them and the Laurel Hill Hoboes didn't end well, with the Baker Gators falling 59-44. The Gators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hoboes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Baker still got an impressive performance from Mckenzie Mcgraw, who posted 26 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 59.1% of Baker's points, marking the third time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Katerina Price was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Baker was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Aiyana Dixon was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 27 rebounds for Laurel Hill. The match was Dixon's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Riley, who earned nine points.

Baker's record now sits at 4-7. As for Laurel Hill, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.

Baker didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-31 defeat against Paxton on the 9th. As for Laurel Hill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-44 loss against Central on the 14th.
