Basketball Game Preview: New Diana Eagles vs. North Hopkins Panthers

The New Diana Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the North Hopkins Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

New Diana saw some tournament action two weeks ago. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 34-33 to Eustace. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

New Diana's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Starrmia Dixon, who went 8 for 17 on her way to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals, and Kayleigh Tibbetts, who posted 11 points and seven steals. Dixon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played.

Meanwhile, North Hopkins sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Pioneer Tech & Arts Academy last Friday. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 634th, while Pioneer Tech & Arts Academy are ranked 1539th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Diana's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-11. As for North Hopkins, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4.
