Soccer Game Preview: Emerald vs. Fountain Inn

The Emerald Vikings will challenge the Fountain Inn Fury at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Emerald is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten goals back in March, they were much more limited against Wren on Thursday. They lost 4-1 to the Hurricanes. While losing is never fun, Emerald can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Wren are ranked 29th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fountain Inn). They never let Southside get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Thursday. Considering Fountain Inn have won six matchups by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Southside from everywhere, as ten different players booted in a goal. Hattie Rahl led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Fountain Inn's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those four matches. As for Emerald, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
