Football Recap: Thomas Gormley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Parkside over Queen Anne's County

Parkside had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-5 to make it eight. They lost to the Queen Anne's County Lions at home by a 42-27 margin. The Rams were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Parkside lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Thomas Gormley, who threw for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 42 yards. James Harmon helped out on the ground, rushing for 117 yards and a rushing touchdown.

As for Queen Anne's County, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.3 points over those games.

Queen Anne's County found their leader in sophomore Colton Starlings, who threw for 294 yards and four TDs, and also punched in one rushing score. The Lions' leading receiver Chance Hegedus was Starlings' top target yet again, picking up 82 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Parkside has already played their next game, a 35-14 defeat against Decatur on the 30th. As for Queen Anne's County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 33-18 victory against Kent Island on the 30th.
