Basketball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short at Home Against Mendez

Jefferson unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Mendez Jaguars on Friday, falling 63-42. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mendez to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anthony Mack, who dropped a triple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals. Mack is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Victor Sauceda was another key player, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 11 steals.

Mendez's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Jefferson will face off against Orthopaedic at 4:00 p.m. on December 1. As for Mendez, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bernstein at 4:00 p.m. on December 3.
