Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Wyatt Sugg and Khye Gamas Lead Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua to Victory

Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua had won five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 8-0 to make it six. Their defense stepped up to hand the Conrad Cowboys a 26-0 shutout. Considering the Scotties have won six games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Leading Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua to victory were Khye Gamas and Wyatt Sugg. Gamas rushed for 150 yards and two scores on only ten carries, while Sugg rushed for 119 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Sugg really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.

Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Conrad to a completion percentage of just 14.8%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Cody Kuka and Tayven Bietz, who each logged one passes deflected. Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.25 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Gamas.

As for Conrad, they moved to 5-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. The matchup marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

When it comes to explaining why Conrad lost, don't look at Carsen Sullivan. Despite the final result, he rushed for 139 yards on only 14 carries. Sullivan is becoming a predictor of the Cowboys' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 4-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua is set to take on their familiar foe Malta/Whitewater/Saco/Dodson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Scotties 8.2, the Mustangs 10.1) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Conrad will face off against rival Fairfield/Augusta at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
