Basketball Recap: Lee Christian Takes a Loss

On Thursday, the Lee Christian Falcons had to suffer through a 59-28 loss at the hands of the Triad Baptist Christian Academy Titans. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 498th, while the Titans are ranked 211th).

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elayna McFarland, who posted six points and eight rebounds. McFarland has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Mashburn, who had five points and ten rebounds.

Leading Triad Baptist Christian Academy to victory were Morgan Harrelson and Macey Allen. Harrelson put up 20 points along with eight boards and five assists, while Allen dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Allen a new career-high in points. Savanna Royal was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Lee Christian and nudges their season record down to 2-12. As for Triad Baptist Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Lee Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-26 win against Burlington Christian Academy on the 3rd. As for Triad Baptist Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-30 defeat against Gospel Light Christian on the 3rd.
